And the question wazz..?!

The week has started on a very busy note. The weekend was crazy and didn't even get time to rest really!

And today instead of writing the comings and goings of my life I thought I'd play this game I found on Khushee's blog. As I have asked her 5 questions already, so following the rules, I have to do the same.

Ask me 5 questions.
Any five - no matter how personal, private, or random.

I have to answer them honestly.
I have to answer them all.

In turn, you post this message in your own journal & you have to answer the questions that are asked to you.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Geez, I think I may be getting myself into a whole lotta trouble! But hey! I'm a sportsgirl with a sportsman spirit, so people,

BRING IT ON!!!

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*--*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

P.S. Depending on the questions, I might leave this post up for a day or two!

Hmm...OK..here we go!

@Ricky: "as much detail as possible acc. to the marks"..!! I had forgotten that! :D
IF I begin Ricky, I'm gonna be typing for ever!! But as I promised, I'll give it a go.

1. Who was your first crush ever? (10 marks)
Ans: This guy used to study with me at my coaching from class 1-4 or soemthing. At that time we were like best buddies. Then I changed coachings etc.. and well, I met him when I went to year 8 at another coaching. By that time he had become tall and built an equally tall ego. Being in rival schools we used to argue all the time, showing each other down etc. etc. Only when I left that coaching a year later did I realise that I had liked him even tho' we had fought like crazy.
And when I finished my year 10, and wanted to pursue engineering, Dad was trying to get me admitted to that guy's school. And the day I had my interview with the Principal, I saw him there. He was leaving that school and had come to pickup his Transfer Certificate.
I was crushed!!!

2. What do you miss about India the most? (5 marks)
Ans: Has to be a tie between my parents - friends - my room!

3. What do you not miss about India? In other words, what did you never liked about it. (10 marks)
Ans: I hail from Kanpur, and I admit that the mentality of people there isn't very broad minded. And same can be said about most of the uneducated population of the country. And I HATE the eve-teasing that goes around. Its disgusting. I was fortunate enough to not have to deal with it one-on-one but it did effect me. As in I couldn't go out by myself in places where cheap guys abounded!! That used to make me feel trapped a lot fo times.

4. How did you meet your fiance? (15 marks)
Ans: He's the family friend of my sister's friend. So I met him at my sis's friend's place. The wierd part was that I was told that he was 2 years younger than me! And so I didn't think much of him then. I kept ignoring 'him' that whole evening. We played Ludo that night and he kept beating my pieces and I kept thinking, "Its Ok, he's a kid. Let him win!"

Then a few days later when I found myself chatting with him I commented how brave he was for a 16 yr old..coming so far away here in Oz. And he jumped, "I'm not 16!!". I said, "Your family friend, she told me that". And he kept insisting.
He even said that he would bring his passport next time so he could prove that he was actually 19, and older than me!
Then I was thinking, "Why on earth is he trying to prove to me that he's 19. Like I care!"

Well, as it turned out I did.

5. Where do you see yourself in next 5 years? Give us the snapshot of your life, you imagine. (10 marks)
Ans: I think I see myself with a serious career, married, world traveller. I will work till I have to, but I do look forward to being a homemaker!

I could have a given you a befitting reply, but I don't use others blog to do so. From next time mind your own business dude.

@Pallavi: Very thought provoking questions.

1. how do you see life ?
Ans: I see Life as one chance to make your mark. I can relate to Richard Bach's book 'The One'. And thus I think that every choice we make in life takes us to different places...an alternate world.

2. what is your idea of happiness ?
Ans: My idea of happiness is,
A drive on a winding road, with half the windows down, and drops of rain water drizzling in. Chillout or soft music playing loud. And us in this car, driving away ....no stresses, no worries.

3. what is your idea of a holiday ?
Ans: A Holiday is anywhere, where I don't have to rush, where I can browse thru little shops and sip coffee at small cafes...and not worry about anything at all!

4. What has been your favorite romantic outing?
Ans: We both are 'water signs' (You'd know Pallavi as you are into astrology) So we have had some very memorable times near water bodies. e.g. Yarra River side and Beaches.

5. How would you describe yourself if you were to compare yourself with a color... ??
Ans: I think - white. Coz this color can take the color of the lights that fall on it. Its adaptive, but in the sun, its still individually brilliant!! :)

Nupur said...

@Khushee:

1. What do you think is your best feature, both physically and personality wise?
Ans: Physically I think it'll have to be my eyes. I'm told that they can be very warm and also very cold, depending on what I want them to show. *the scorpian charm* ;)
Personality wise, I think it'll have to be my "hard-headedness". If I'm nice to someone I can be very very nice, but if I someone p*&%$# me off, then its 'good-bye' for good. And no one can change my mind!

2. What has been the most frightening event in your life?
Ans: hmmm... I don't think its happened yet and I hope it dosen't for a long long time. But yeah, the thought of losing my family or losing 'him' is the most frightening thing ever!

3. Do you believe in destiny, why/why not?
Ans: Yes, I think I sort of do. I think its there, but we can make/break it with our will.

4. If you were a cartoon character, who would you be and why?
Ans: I think I might be "jerry". Coz I'm very naughty most of the time, and only "Tom" knows that!!!

5. If you were to change your name, what would you change it to and why?
Ans: I like my name now, although as a kid, when I had 3 other Nupurs in my class I do admit that I wished I had a more uncommon name. Like "Akruti" or "Akanksha" or something...some thing very complicated and rare.
;)

Nihar said...

@Ricky:
Dunno why you had to take it so personally. Chill 'Dude', it's not as if i asked you anything. But then you u are free to interpret things your own way. It is all in a humorous vein, im sorry that i actually had to tell you that. Take it easy. No offence.

Nupur said...

@Nihar:
1. If 1=5, 2=10, 3=15, 4=20 then 5=?
Ans: 1

2. Does Ricky have nothing better to do than read ur blog 24/7?
Ans: Looking at his blog and reading his comments all over other people's blogs I'm sure he does go about reading a lot of other people's blog, and I'm not the only exception.
And I not in a position to question what he does with his time!

3. Don't you have anything better to do than to reply to Ricky's comments 24/7? :P (Inpired by the info that some ppl in ur office got the pink slip)
Ans: Our time difference (canada and Oz) makes it very convenient for us to throw comments back and forth. And as far as pink slip is concerned... what will be will be. I know my department and my role in it and I feel secure enough.

4. If you had horns on ur head, how would you like them to be?
Ans: I would choose one - like a unicorn!!

5. Who is the Prime minister of india?
Ans: Mr.Manmohan Singh.
(what was that for?)
*scratching my head*

Nupur said...

@Bablu:
1. What do U treasure D most?
Ans: All the happy moments of my life.

2. Whom do U respect D most(past or present)?
Ans: My Mom for sure.

3. If given a chance, what's D one thing U wanna change in the world?
Ans: The way wealth goes around. Poor get poorer and rich grow richer. Thats probably why I like sci-fi where all people dress teh same, have the same kinda houses.. well evenly distributed.

4. What's D one thing U like in this world?
Ans: The landscapes... there is so much to explore....

5. What's ur ambition in life?
Ans: To be successful in whatever I do.

------------
Phew! this is not easy....

*isn't it guys??*

Nupur said...

@Colors: Oh they better!! They will have to put this post up or they will have 7 years of bad luck in their love life!!
:D

Nupur said...

@Poonam: Just when I thought I was lucky to get 3 ques only!! :)

1. So you have a fiance (I just learned), when did you get engaged?
Ans: We have been together 4 years, and 'mea-bivi' and both the family all are razi. There hasn't been an official engagement yet, coz both our families are in India
and he has not been to India for the last 5.5 years. :(

2. What is the one main difference that you have noticed between Australia and India?
Ans: In Oz, if you are at a ticket-booth or anywhere, where a lot of people need to buy/pick up something, they always automatically make a queue. Without even anyone telling them to.
No maaraa-maari and pushing or shoving!!

3. What is your idea of a perfect wedding?
Ans: Obviously where both the families consent and not just the bride-groom. Some thing simple and elegant I suppose.

4. What are you getting married?
Ans: Whenever we both can get to India together!

5. When was the last time you went to India?
Ans: Last time was almost 2 years ago at my sister's wedding in Hyd in April 2003. It was for 8 days only, and I didn't get a chance to see any of my friends!!!

Nupur said...

@Bhargav: I have sumitted my answer sheet, dunno if I have passed/failed!! ;)

Anonymous said...

Hi Nupur,

Note: I used to correct papers for my mom when she was a teacher and I heard the rumor that I was a very bad marker. Don't expect any leniency from me. Here I go.

1. In this question, you restrained from mentioning the guy's name. Forget privacy issue, it's a serious mishtake. I will give points for your sense of humor though, esp on the crushed remark, that was funny. Marks given = 8.

2. It was a 5 mark question, not two. Missing parents and friends is pretty obvious but why the heck room? Marks given = 3

Oops my rice is ready. Milte hain break ke baad.3. How can uneducated people be braod-minded if they are uneducated? Isn't it a little self-contradictory. Eve-teasing sometime was good by the way. I miss that here...ha ha. Infact some of my brother's European friends (eve-teasing is common in europe) eve-tease here too and gals seems to like it. But I know Indian eve-teasing can get pretty bad. Marks given: 8

4. Loved your fiance-meeting story. Very cute. Marks: 15

5. Good answer here too. By the way, new word for homemaker here is homengineer...:) Marks: 10

Total Marks = 44/50
Additional 5 marks for being such a good sport. I have discretion of 1 mark, so I give you that.

Final Total: 50/50.

Oh oh oh boyyyy!!! Just finished reading ALL the comments and ALL the replies. Awesome is the word! The questiona were interesting and thought provoking. And your replies... well stupendous, witty, honest, direct dil se, spot on and.. and.. and.. well I dunn have words!

* awed and amused! * :-)

Nupur said...

@Prasad: No you aren't late as the due date has been extended!! :D

1. What in life do u miss the most???
Ans: I miss the carefree life I had when I was in School. Specially year 9 and year 10 are the most memorable school years!! Miss all the fun I had in those years with my gfs. It was an awesome time!
I was at the peak of my popularity at school!!! *hahaha* Had many girl fans too!!! LOL!

2. Which is the first occassion when u felt u've achieved something..? Don't say u'ven't achieved anything.. there must be somethin' at the back of ur mind..
Ans: It'll again have to be in school. When I was in year 4, and we started with Hindi singing classes, my singing teacher found my singing talent. And soon the news spread as I became the lead singer in a lot of school assembly hyms and cultural events. That was the first acheivement..that I remember!

3. Given a choice of settling down in India or Australia.. which one would u go for?
Ans: Thats a tricky one.
Its hard...coz I miss my friends and family and would love to be near them and I have spent the last 5 years of my adult life here in Oz...as if I've 'grown up' here!
Its too hard to answer Prasad... only time will tell!!
*Sorry for being so vague..!*

4. Whats ur honest opinion on Australia..? both adv and disadv... reqd..
Ans: Adv--
a. If you work very hard and are willing to do things out of your way, you can achieve "anything.
b. The standard of living is good. eg. Continuos electiricity, tranportation etc.
c. No one will disturb you/pay attention/stare at you etc. unless you ask for it. eg. Girls can take the last train home at midnight and not worry about safety! (unless obviously they go around looking for bad company etc.)
d. Public have a lot of rights. Government can not deprive people of their basic rights. Politicians are condemned and publicly humiliated and forced to resign if they are found guilty of any sort of misconduct.

Disadv--
a. You have to learn to live away from India for long periods of time.
b. You have to learn to accept high fees for education and transportation than the ordinary Oz students till you may become a resident.
c. Some people even use the above point to say that there is racial discrimination in Oz. I admit that there are some stupid people who still practise discrimination at workplace etc... But if you are capable and educated enough, youy have the power to change that too!

5. Who is ur role model.. and why?
Ans: My Mother. She has been through a lot of tough times since her marriage, but had always been by my father's side. She had brought us up to be confident - independent individuals.

She never fails to inspire me!!!

------------
:) Thanks.

Nupur said...

LOL!! Thanks mate...those were a looot of words.

Hey, btb.... didn't i say my qns were like the Miss Universe type... hmm, ur answers too were really good.. i guess u can try ur luck thr... what say??? :D
One more thing, the qn reg Aus adv and disadv, the reason for asking that is my friend studied thr and came back to India and everytime he boasts of the good things in Aus.. & always wants to go back.. so, jus wanted to confirm that too.. :))

Nupur said...

"Miss Universe" - *blushing* what are you saying..!! :)

I personally cant stand people who boast! *did I sound like I was boasting abt Australia?! I hope not.* If your friend really likes Oz so much how come he's not here?!

khwaish said...

ok...here goes after the loooo(yawn)oong wait..

1)Who do u like more? Ur brother or sister...and why?( I know...dumb question)
2) Who proposed..u or 'Him'?
3)What are some of the names you would like to name ur kids?
4)Whats the first thing you notice about someone?
5)umm...last question..Whats the question you wnat everyone to ask you and why?...;)

have fun...

Nupur said...

@Sanaja: You have taken your time, but have come up with gr8 ques. indeed!!
:)

1)Who do u like more? Ur brother or sister...and why?( I know...dumb question)
Ans: Dumb...I don't know. But yes, I dont think I can properly answer that.. I'll get into trouble for it! ;)
But my relationship with both is very very different. With didi, I only came to know her when we came here to Oz. Thats when we came close. And my brother, we had been close from ever since I can remember, and then had these 5 years of distance..I'm learning abt him all over again!

2) Who proposed..u or 'Him'?
Ans: Sorry to say but I'm a very typical female when it comes to things like that. So, ofcourse he had to propose first!
(psst.. I know a guy here who liked me but never had the guts to tell me. His best friend told me abt that guy's feelings and that he thinks that I'm too independent/over confident so he is scared to approach. Ridiculous! I told his friend 'plz ask him to forget it coz he just does not have the guts.' )

3)What are some of the names you would like to name ur kids?
Ans. I used to have a mental diary where I used to jot down any typical, unique names that I came across. But then I realised that harder names are hard to pronounce and might make my (future)baba a target at school... u know kids can be very cruel like that!!

So simple n sweet will be kool with me. :)

Girl- Urvi
Boy- ...haven't thought of that one yet!

4)Whats the first thing you notice about someone?
Ans: The tone of the voice and the sincerity in the eyes!

5)umm...last question..Whats the question you wnat everyone to ask you and why?...;)
Ans: oh! I don't know.
What do I want everyone to ask?!

*speechless!*
:O

*scratching my head!*
